    Population

    Spain has a population of around 50 million over an area of 505,370 km2. The country's population density is just below 91 people per km2.

     

    Capital City

    Spain's capital and largest city is Madrid. The estimated population of Madrid is an estimated 3.3 million inhabitants, with 6.6 million living within the metropolitan area.

     

    Climate

    There are three climate zones in Spain. In the east and south, it is a typical Mediterranean climate. The weather in the central Meseta area is continental, while in the north and west it is maritime.

     

    Currency

    The euro is the official currency since it replaced the peseta in 2002.

     

     

    Languages

    Spanish is the only language of the country. Dialects of Spanish exist in specific territories including Basque, Valencian & Galician.

     

     

    GDP

    Spain has a GDP of nearly $1.3 trillion and is the 13th largest economy in the world.
